Eskilstuna United DFF was founded on 29 September 2002 through the merger of Slagsta IK and Tunafors SK's women's football activities. The club earned promotion to the Damallsvenskan for the first time in 2014 and made an immediate impact, finishing seventh in their debut season. The following year was even more remarkable: Eskilstuna finished as Damallsvenskan runners-up in 2015, qualifying for the 2016-17 UEFA Women's Champions League in just their second top-flight season. Eskilstuna United play at Tunavallen, a 7,800-capacity stadium in the heart of Eskilstuna that provides one of the larger venues in the Damallsvenskan. The club's blue and white colors are a familiar sight at the ground, where a loyal local fanbase has supported the team through its rapid rise and the natural fluctuations of competing at Sweden's highest level. The club's Champions League debut in the 2016-17 season put Eskilstuna on the European map and demonstrated what is possible for a relatively young women's football club with smart recruitment and strong coaching. While maintaining consistent Damallsvenskan competitiveness remains the primary objective, the European experience provided invaluable development for the club and its players.
