AIK Fotboll Dam is the women's football section of AIK, one of Sweden's oldest and most prestigious sports clubs. The women's team was founded in 1970 and first earned promotion to the Damallsvenskan in 1992, beginning a fluctuating history at the top level that has seen multiple promotions and relegations. The club reached the Svenska Cupen final in 2007, losing a thrilling 4-3 contest to Umeå IK, and their best Damallsvenskan league finish was fourth place in 2008. AIK women play at Skytteholms IP in Solna, Stockholm, a ground that provides an intimate setting for Damallsvenskan matches. The club is part of the broader AIK Fotboll organization, which also fields a men's team in the Allsvenskan, and benefits from the institutional support and brand recognition of one of Swedish football's most established names. The club's black and gold colors are among the most iconic in Scandinavian football.
