Atlético de Madrid Femenino is one of the most successful women's football clubs in Spain, having won three consecutive Liga F titles (2017, 2018, 2019) and two Copas de la Reina. The women's team was re-established in 2001 after an earlier incarnation was disbanded in the early 1990s, becoming an official section of the club in 2005. After climbing through the regional leagues, Atlético reached the top flight in 2006 and rapidly rose to domestic dominance. In March 2019, Atlético set a world record for women's football attendance when 60,739 spectators packed the Riyadh Air Metropolitano for a league match against Barcelona. The club's regular home is the Centro Deportivo Wanda Alcalá de Henares, a 2,700-capacity stadium within their training complex northeast of Madrid.
