Athletic Club Femenino is the women's football section of Athletic Bilbao, one of the most storied and successful women's teams in Spanish football history with five league championships. The women's team was formed in 2002 when Athletic absorbed Leioa EFT (successor to CD Sondika's women's team), and the club immediately won three consecutive titles in their first three seasons, becoming the first team awarded the trophy to keep permanently. A fourth title followed in 2007, and a fifth came in 2016. True to Athletic Club's famous signing policy, the women's team exclusively fields players who are native to or trained in the greater Basque Country. The team plays at the club's Lezama training facilities on the outskirts of Bilbao. The 2025-26 squad features top scorer Ane Azcona, experienced forward Nahikari García, midfielder Irene Oguiza, and defender Nerea Nevado.
