Werder Bremen

SV Werder Bremen Women compete in the Frauen-Bundesliga, representing one of Germany's most historic football clubs in women's competition. Werder Bremen originally had a women's team in the early 1970s that competed for the German championship, but it was dissolved years later. The women's section was recreated in 2007 and embarked on a steady rise through the divisions, earning promotion from the Regionalliga Nord and reaching the 2. Frauen-Bundesliga by 2009. Promotion to the top-flight Frauen-Bundesliga followed in the 2014-15 season. Werder Bremen Women play their home matches at Weserstadion Platz 11, a dedicated venue adjacent to the iconic Weserstadion with a capacity of 5,500. The SV Werder Bremen Women roster for 2025-26 is led by top scorer Larissa Muhlhaus, with Medina Desic contributing goals from forward positions. Head coach Fritzy Kromp has built a competitive squad that consistently holds its own in the upper half of the Frauen-Bundesliga table. With strong fan support and the backing of one of northern Germany's most prominent football institutions, Werder Bremen Women have grown from a reformed grassroots project into an established Frauen-Bundesliga club.
