RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig Women are a relatively young but rapidly growing force in the Frauen-Bundesliga, reflecting the ambitious approach of the Red Bull-backed club. RB Leipzig entered women's football in 2016, initially partnering with Leipziger FC 07 before striking out independently. The team competed in the fourth-tier Landesliga Sachsen and began a swift ascent through the divisions, winning the 2. Frauen-Bundesliga title in 2022-23 with games to spare and earning promotion to the top flight. RB Leipzig Women play their home matches at the Sportanlage Gontardweg in Leipzig, the state training centre for women's and girls' football. The RB Leipzig Women roster for 2025-26 features Icelandic forward Emilia Asgeirsdottir as the team's top scorer, alongside German midfielder Marleen Schimmer, who has been the squad's standout performer. Swiss midfielder Lara Marti, Norwegian defender Andrea Norheim, and German forward Sandra Starke add depth to a diverse, internationally-flavored squad. Backed by the resources and infrastructure of RB Leipzig, the women's programme has ambitious plans to grow. The 2025-26 season represents their third consecutive campaign in the Frauen-Bundesliga as they look to establish themselves among the league's middle tier.
