Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga The fourth matchday of the Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga brought no change at the top of the table. VfL Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich maintained their perfect records, although the German champions had to put in a huge amount of work in Leverkusen to come away with all three points. Eintracht Frankfurt are also doing very well just behind the leading duo, while RB Leipzig recorded their first victory of the season.
After four rounds of matches, Wolfsburg and Bayern both have 12 points. The “She-Wolves” lead thanks to a better goal difference (+10 compared to Bayern’s +9). Third placed Eintracht have collected 10 points, while 1. FC Köln and Werder Bremen have nine each.
VfL Wolfsburg show no signs of slowing down
The league leaders travelled to Stuttgart and once again got the job done. VfL Wolfsburg defeated the newly promoted side 2–0, having led 1–0 at half time. As a result, the team remains one of only two sides alongside Bayern with a perfect record of four wins.
For VfB, it was their first defeat of the season. Stuttgart started the campaign very solidly and, after four matchdays, remain in the top half of the table with seven points. Wolfsburg, meanwhile, confirmed that from the very first weeks of the season they intend to set a very high pace for the champions from Munich.
Bayern snatch victory in Leverkusen
The most exciting match was the clash between Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern. The Munich side enjoyed considerably more possession but for a long time were unable to turn their advantage into a result. The hosts took their chance in the 36th minute. After a free kick from Paulina Tomasiak, the ball also took a touch off Jovana Damnjanović and Bayer sensationally took a 1–0 lead.
After the break, a real exchange of blows began. Vanessa Gilles equalised in the 51st minute following a cross from Giulia Gwinn, but just a minute later Tomasiak capitalised on a Bayern mistake and restored Leverkusen’s lead with a superb strike.
Bayern responded through their substitutes. The players brought off the bench became the heroines of the comeback: first, Edna Imade equalised after another Gwinn cross, before Alara Şehitler decided the match in the closing stages. Following a move involving Klara Bühl, the 19 year old finished precisely to make it 3–2.
The victory had additional significance for Bayern it was FCB’s 46th consecutive league match without defeat. The champions have 12 points, although they sit second due to goal difference.
Eintracht remain just behind the leading duo
Eintracht Frankfurt are also enjoying an excellent start to the campaign. This time, the Frankfurt side defeated TSG Hoffenheim 4–2. They led 1–0 at half time, before the fans saw another five goals after the break.
Eintracht remain unbeaten after four matchdays, they have three wins and one draw, giving them 10 points. Their deficit to Wolfsburg and Bayern therefore stands at just two points.
Hoffenheim have far fewer reasons to be satisfied. Four matches have ended in four defeats, and with a goal difference of -5, the team remains in the relegation zone.
Werder win the Nordderby
The return of the league Nordderby was also a significant occasion. Werder Bremen defeated Hamburger SV 1–0, with the decisive moment coming shortly after the start of the second half. Isabella Jaron headed the ball into the net to secure all three points for the hosts.
The narrow victory allowed Werder to consolidate their position among the league’s leading sides. Bremen already have nine points and sit fifth, trailing fourth placed Köln only on goal difference. HSV, meanwhile, are still waiting for their first league victory two draws and two defeats have given the Hamburg side two points.
Köln comfortably beat Union, Freiburg take three points
FC Köln continue their successful start to the season. The Cologne side defeated Union Berlin 3–0 to record their third victory in four matchdays. With nine points, Köln sit fourth and remain one of the biggest positive surprises of the opening weeks of the campaign.
Union find themselves at the opposite end of the spectrum. The newly promoted Berlin side have lost all four matches, conceding eight more goals than they have scored.
Three points also stayed in Freiburg. SC Freiburg defeated 1. FSV Mainz 05 3–0. The hosts led 1–0 at half time before sealing the victory after the break. With seven points, Freiburg moved up to sixth place. Mainz remain bottom without a point and with a goal difference of 0–10.
First win for RB Leipzig
RB Leipzig had been waiting for a breakthrough, and in the fourth matchday it finally arrived. The Leipzig side defeated 1. FC Nürnberg 2–1. They led 1–0 at half time and ultimately held on to their one goal advantage.
Thanks to the victory, RB now have four points and have moved up to ninth place. Nürnberg, like HSV, remain without a win two draws mean they have collected two points.
