Hammarby IF DFF is one of the pioneers of Swedish women's football, established in 1970 as a section of the multi-sports club Hammarby IF. Founded by Christer Molander, who also served as head coach for the first five years, the club is placed fourth in the all-time Damallsvenskan table and has won the Swedish championship twice — in 1985 and in a triumphant 2023 campaign that ended a 38-year wait for the league title. Hammarby play their home matches at Hammarby IP (also known as Kanalplan) in the Södermalm district of Stockholm, with occasional games at Zinkensdamms IP. Legendary players like Pia Sundhage have worn the Hammarby shirt, connecting the club to the broader history of Swedish women's football.
