Djurgarden

Djurgårdens IF Fotboll Dam has one of the richest histories in Swedish women's football, with roots stretching back to the late 1960s when the club first fielded a women's team. In a transformative move in 2003, Djurgårdens IF merged with five-time Swedish champions Älvsjö AIK to form Djurgården/Älvsjö — a partnership that yielded immediate success with Damallsvenskan titles in 2003 and 2004. The combined entity also reached the 2005 UEFA Women's Cup final, losing 1-5 on aggregate to 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam. Djurgården play their home matches at the historic Stockholms Olympiastadion, the iconic venue built for the 1912 Summer Olympics and a designated UNESCO World Heritage site candidate. Playing in one of the world's most recognizable sporting venues gives Djurgården a unique home advantage and an unmatched matchday atmosphere for Damallsvenskan football. The club has also used Hjorthagens IP and other Stockholm venues throughout its history. After periods in the lower divisions, Djurgården have re-established themselves in the Damallsvenskan and continue to build on their legacy as one of Stockholm's premier women's football clubs. The club's connection to the broader Djurgårdens IF organization — one of Sweden's most successful multi-sport clubs — provides institutional stability and access to resources that support long-term competitiveness at the top level.
