Brommapojkarna

IF Brommapojkarna Dam is the women's section of IF Brommapojkarna, a football club from the Bromma district of western Stockholm. The women's team was founded in 1971 and spent decades competing in Sweden's lower divisions before a breakthrough period saw them promoted to the second-tier Elitettan in 2014. The ultimate prize came in November 2021 when Brommapojkarna qualified for the Damallsvenskan for the first time in club history, entering Sweden's top women's division for the 2022 season. Playing in their distinctive red and black colors, Brommapojkarna women compete at Grimsta IP in Stockholm, a ground that serves as the home for both the men's and women's teams. The stadium's location in the Bromma suburbs provides a community-focused atmosphere that contrasts with the larger Stockholm clubs, and the local support has been instrumental in the women's team's rise through the divisions. As a relatively recent arrival in the Damallsvenskan, Brommapojkarna represent the growing depth of Swedish women's football and the ability of clubs outside the traditional elite to compete at the highest level. The club's focus on youth development and smart recruitment has allowed them to maintain their top-flight status against more established and better-resourced opposition.
