Carl Zeiss Jena

FC Carl Zeiss Jena Women compete in the Frauen-Bundesliga, representing a club with deep roots in East German women's football. The origins of women's football in Jena date back to the early days of reunification, when USV Jena became Regionalliga Nordost champions in 1991 and earned promotion to the unified Frauen-Bundesliga. The team later competed under the name FF USV Jena, reaching the DFB-Pokal final in 2010 and spending a decade in the top flight before relegation in 2018. In May 2020, all women's teams and competition licenses were transferred to FC Carl Zeiss Jena, effective July 2020. Under the Carl Zeiss Jena banner, the women's team earned immediate promotion to the Frauen-Bundesliga in 2020-21 under coach Anne Pochert, though that campaign ended in relegation. The club regrouped in the 2. Frauen-Bundesliga and secured another promotion as runners-up in 2023-24. The FC Carl Zeiss Jena Women roster for 2025-26 includes Isabella Jaron and Felicia Sophie Strasser among the key contributors. The team plays at the Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld in Jena, a stadium with a capacity of 15,000. Carl Zeiss Jena Women carry the proud legacy of Thuringian women's football as they fight to establish themselves in the Frauen-Bundesliga.
