Real Madrid Femenino was officially created on 1 July 2020 following the absorption of CD Tacón, a club founded in 2014 that had entered into a merger agreement with Real Madrid in 2019. The integration brought the most famous name in world football into the women's game, and Real Madrid wasted no time building a squad capable of challenging domestically and in Europe. The club competes in Liga F and the UEFA Women's Champions League.
