The first trophy of the 2025/26 season belongs to Bayern Munich. The Bavarian side defeated VfL Wolfsburg 4–2, dominating from the first whistle and capitalizing on a second-half red card that left their rivals powerless.
The clash in Karlsruhe kicked off at a high tempo. In the 18th minute, Magdalena Eriksson unleashed a powerful long-range strike that Wolfsburg’s defense didn’t even attempt to block. The ball rocketed into the net, giving Bayern an early 1–0 lead.
Just minutes later, in the 25th minute, Jovana Damnjanović showcased her individual brilliance — dribbling past a defender before smashing the ball from a tight angle to make it 2–0. Wolfsburg responded with a dangerous header from Lineth Beerensteyn, but her effort rattled the crossbar, and the rebound went just wide. Bayern carried a comfortable lead into halftime.
After the break, Wolfsburg tried to mount a comeback. In the 58th minute, Jule Brand Endemann pounced on chaos following a corner to pull one back, narrowing the score to 2–1. But their hopes didn’t last long. With substitutions bringing on Klare Bühl and Lena Oberdorf, returning after a year-long injury absence, the spotlight quickly shifted to Lea Schüller.
In the 65th minute, Schüller controlled the ball on her chest, turned, and fired an unstoppable shot under the crossbar to restore a two-goal cushion at 3–1.
Things went from bad to worse for Wolfsburg in the 76th minute. Substitute Kielland, just 12 minutes after coming on, received a second yellow card for a reckless challenge on Damnjanović. Bayern was awarded a penalty, which Georgia Stanway calmly converted to make it 4–1.
Late in the match, Wolfsburg grabbed a consolation goal. A foul on Beerensteyn inside the box led to a penalty, and Minge confidently slotted it home for 4–2. However, the scoreline didn’t fully reflect Bayern’s dominance, as they maintained control until the final whistle.
During the trophy ceremony, captain Jovana Damnjanović handed the Super Cup to Lena Oberdorf, celebrating her emotional return to the pitch after a long recovery — a gesture met with loud cheers from the fans in Karlsruhe.
