Published 3 min read

The Spanish Liga F is picking up pace, and the third round of games showed just how many faces top-level women’s football can have. There were world-class goals, spectacular starts, first breakthroughs, and spectacles that proved this league is anything but predictable. Barcelona and Atlético keep pushing forward, Real Sociedad celebrated a historic moment, and Deportivo Abanca gave their fans a long-awaited reason to cheer.

FC Barcelona 4 – DUX Logroño 0
The Spanish champions kicked off the weekend in style. Aitana Bonmatí stole the show in the first half, first scoring with a backheel, then blasting one in from outside the box. Just before halftime, Ewa Pajor also found the net, and in the second half Kika Nazareth sealed the win. Barça not only won but also showed that their attacking machine is firing on all cylinders.

Real Sociedad 3 – Sevilla FC 0
San Sebastián celebrated the opening of its new stadium, and it was a perfect party. In the 9th minute, Aiara Agirrezabala headed in the opener, then shortly after provided the assist for Lucía Pardo’s goal. Sevilla tried to respond, but Real controlled the game. Andreia Jacinto, making her 100th appearance for the club, was awarded MVP, and late on Intza Egiguren sealed the 3-0 victory.

Costa Adeje Tenerife 0 – RCD Espanyol 0
No goals in the Canary Islands, but plenty of tension. Aithiara Carballo caused Espanyol’s defense constant trouble, while Iratxe Pérez wasted the best chance, missing one-on-one. A tough battle, fair draw.

Alhama CF ElPozo 1 – Granada CF 1
In the 6th minute, Mariana Díaz put Alhama in front, and home fans were ready to celebrate. After the break, though, Granada came back – Laura Pérez punished a goalkeeper error to equalize. The visitors pressed in the final stages but lacked composure in front of goal.

Deportivo Abanca 1 – Athletic Club 0
Finally, a breakthrough for the Galicians! Ainhoa Marín finished off a quick counterattack to score the only goal. The hosts then played smart defense, with Inês Pereira making key saves between the posts. Deportivo’s first three points of the season became reality.

SD Eibar 0 – FC Badalona Women 0
Eibar’s first point of the season, but still no win. They came closest when Kullashi scored, but the referee disallowed it for a foul.

Real Madrid 2 – Madrid CFF 1
The Royals had to wait, but at last secured a win. Alba Redondo opened the scoring, answered by a beautiful strike from Ángela Sosa. Before halftime, Caroline Weir restored Madrid’s lead, which they held until the end. It could have been 2-2, but Emilie Nautnes hit the crossbar.

Atlético de Madrid 4 – Levante UD 0
A demolition to close the weekend. In the 8th minute, Amaiur Sarriegi struck from distance, and after the break the floodgates opened with goals from Luany, Júlia Bartel, and Andrea Medina. Bartel’s stunning long-range effort earned her MVP honors. Atlético keep pace with Barcelona.
