Kansas City Current

The Kansas City Current play at CPKC Stadium, a historic venue that became the first stadium in the world purpose-built exclusively for a professional women's sports team when it opened in 2024. The $117 million facility holds 11,500 fans and represents a landmark investment in women's soccer infrastructure, setting a new standard for how women's professional clubs approach venue ownership. On the pitch, the Current won the 2025 NWSL Shield with a record-breaking 21-point margin over the second-place team, establishing themselves as the most dominant regular-season force in NWSL history. Forward Temwa Chawinga won back-to-back NWSL MVP awards in 2024 and 2025, cementing her status as one of the greatest players in league history. The Kansas City Current roster for 2026 is built around Chawinga and a deep squad capable of competing for every trophy. Originally launched in 2020 as a replacement for the relocated Utah Royals FC franchise, Kansas City has rapidly transformed into one of the NWSL's premier clubs both on and off the pitch. The Current's combination of a purpose-built stadium, a record-breaking regular season in 2025, and back-to-back MVP performances makes Kansas City one of the most compelling stories in women's professional sports.
