Gotham FC vs Angel City — NWSL Live Score

A clash of NWSL titans unfolds on Sunday as reigning champions Gotham FC welcome Angel City to Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison. This face-off brings together a club steeped in championship history against a franchise that has redefined the commercial landscape of women’s professional soccer. It's a meeting of legacies: one built on on-field dominance, the other on unprecedented off-field valuation.

Gotham FC, with their two NWSL Championship titles in three years, arrive as the standard-bearers of the modern league era. Their 2025 triumph, a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Washington Spirit, cemented their status. Rose Lavelle, the Championship MVP in that final, continues to be a pivotal figure for the New Jersey/New York club. Originally founded as Sky Blue FC in 2007, the hosts have consistently proven their mettle, evolving into one of American women's soccer's most storied clubs. Their ability to deliver under pressure, particularly in high-stakes encounters, is a hallmark of their identity.

Across the pitch stand Angel City FC, a club that, despite its relative youth, has made an indelible mark on the sport. Since their NWSL debut in 2022, the Los Angeles-based team has quickly become a global phenomenon. Their star-studded ownership group laid the foundation, but the 2024 acquisition by Bob Iger and Willow Bay for an estimated $250 million elevated Angel City to the highest-valued women's sports franchise worldwide. While the visitors play their home matches at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, their journey to Harrison represents another chapter in their high-profile existence.

Historically, the matchups between these two clubs have heavily favored the champions. In six previous meetings, Gotham FC has emerged victorious five times, with a single draw completing the head-to-head record. Angel City is still searching for their inaugural win against the formidable New Jersey/New York side. This Sunday’s encounter offers Angel City another opportunity to rewrite that particular narrative. Meanwhile, Gotham FC aims to continue their dominance over a club that represents the new frontier of NWSL ambition, setting the stage for a compelling contest at Sports Illustrated Stadium.
