Round 12 of the Ninja A-League Women 2025/26 season brought important developments in the middle of the table and at the same time confirmed the stable form of the league’s top teams. The most reasons for satisfaction belonged to Melbourne City W, which strengthened its position at the top of the table after a 2–1 away victory over Wellington Phoenix W. The Melbourne side, after eight matches played, holds a record of six wins, one draw, and one defeat, giving them 19 points and allowing them to maintain a safe advantage over their rivals.
A very important victory was also recorded by Brisbane Roar W, who defeated Melbourne Victory W 1–0 away from home. This win was significant not only in terms of the league table but also because it ended Victory’s run of home matches without defeat, which had lasted since December 2025. Thanks to the three points, Roar remain realistically in the fight for a place in the top six, which guarantees participation in the finals series.
Central Coast Mariners W moved onto the podium, once again confirming their strong form in away matches with a 2–1 win over Newcastle Jets W. It was the third consecutive away victory for the Gosford-based team, representing the longest such streak since the club joined the league in the 2023/24 season. The Mariners currently have a record of five wins, two draws, and four losses after eleven matches played, which, given the tight competition, allows them to remain among the league’s leading teams.
In a direct clash between teams fighting to strengthen their position in the middle of the table, Perth Glory W defeated Western Sydney Wanderers W 3–1. It was the highest-scoring match of the round and at the same time confirmed Glory’s good run in home matches against the Wanderers – since the 2023/24 season, the Perth side have remained unbeaten at home in these encounters. Meanwhile, the match between Sydney FC W and Adelaide United W ended in a goalless draw, which brought no clear benefits to either side.
Four of the five matches played in Round 12 ended with a one-goal margin or a share of the points, which well reflects the balanced nature of the competition in the current season. After this series of matches, Melbourne City remain at the top of the table with 19 points, just ahead of Canberra United W (18 points), with Central Coast Mariners closing the top three on 17 points. The fight for places guaranteeing advancement to the finals series is becoming increasingly intense, and the recent victories of Brisbane Roar and Perth Glory have clearly increased the pressure on the teams positioned just above them in the league hierarchy.
