The penultimate round of the Ninja A-League Women 2025/26 regular season delivered high intensity, goals, and results that could prove decisive in shaping the table ahead of the finals series. Round 21 underlined just how competitive and unpredictable the closing stage of the campaign is set to be.
Central Coast Mariners emerged as the standout side of the round, collecting four points from two matches played within the space of four days. Their consistency and squad depth were reflected in the Opta Points Team of the Week selection. Defender Lorena Baumann registered the highest score, with her all-round contribution both defensively and during set piece situations playing a pivotal role in her side’s results.
The Mariners’ dominance extended into midfield, where Isabel Gomez and Greta Kraszula dictated tempo and controlled proceedings. Both players were instrumental in securing victory over Wellington Phoenix and a draw against Canberra United. Between the posts, Annalee Grove provided reliability and composure, making crucial interventions that preserved her team’s points haul.
In attack, efficiency proved decisive. Newcastle Jets forward Kelli Brown showcased her clinical edge with a brace in a 3–1 win over Adelaide United. She was joined in the Team of the Week by Sydney FC’s Riley Tanner and Western Sydney Wanderers striker Yuan Cong, both of whom delivered match-winning contributions for their respective sides.
Brisbane Roar also made a strong statement as the season approaches its climax. Midfield dynamo Momo Hayashi was the standout performer, scoring twice in an emphatic 5–2 victory over Perth Glory. Her dynamism and attacking intent were among the defining features of the round.
Defensively, alongside Baumann, Elizabeth Barwick-Grey, Hayley Taylor Young, and Aimee Medwin earned recognition for their tactical discipline and effectiveness in shutting down opposition threats.
