The Road to the Final
The tournament began on August 22, with a format of three groups of four teams, ensuring excitement from day one.
- Lazio caused a sensation by topping Group A ahead of Juventus.
- Inter proved the best in Group B.
- Roma won group C, confirming they are one of the strongest women’s football projects in Europe.
- Juventus, despite finishing second, advanced to the semifinals as a lucky loser thanks to the best overall record.
In the Final Four semifinals, Roma defeated Lazio 3–0 in the Roman derby, while Juventus edged Inter 2–1.
The Castellammare Spectacle
The final atmosphere was exceptional, a full stadium, fans of both teams cheering relentlessly, and top-level football on the pitch.
Juventus got off to the perfect start, in just the 4th minute, Vangsgaard finished a pass from Lindsey Thomas. Roma, however, did not falter. First came dangerous shots from Bergamaschi and Kuhl, then a crossbar hit from Giugliano, until finally, in the 30th minute, Haavi leveled the score.
The second half was a true exchange of blows, Bonansea’s volley made it 2–1, Giugliano’s header brought it back to 2–2, and tension rose when Viens came centimeters away from giving Roma the lead. Extra time seemed inevitable, but then came the 92nd minute, Lindsey Thomas, a former Roma player, pounced on a rebound after a corner and sealed Juventus’ triumph.

This final had a fairytale quality, Juventus, who had not been the best in the group stage and only reached the semifinals via a “wild card,” became the first-ever winners of the new competition. A testament to mentality, experience, and the quality of the “Old Lady’s” players.
