Record-Breaking Attendance at Bay FC vs. Spirit

On August 23, 2025, Oracle Park in San Francisco turned into a true celebration of football. A crowd of 40,091 fans packed the stands, setting not only a new NWSL attendance record, but also the highest attendance in the history of all professional women’s sports leagues in the United States.
The previous record of 35,038 spectators, set during the Chicago Red Stars vs. Bay FC match at Wrigley Field in June 2024, is now a thing of the past.

This is no coincidence. The dynamic growth of women’s soccer in the U.S. is the result of years of investment in infrastructure, such as the modern stadium of Kansas City Current and a steadily growing fan base. As coaches often say, this is no longer a “phenomenon”; it’s the new normal for the game.

Although Bay FC ultimately lost to the Washington Spirit 2–3, the atmosphere in San Francisco was electric. Downtown matches, the iconic baseball stadium, and the roaring support from the crowd have sparked conversations about the permanent presence of women’s soccer in the Bay Area.

This clash with the Spirit not only became the event of the season but also boosted Bay FC’s average attendance to 11,484 fans per match. However, they still have some catching up to do with the league’s attendance leaders, such as Portland Thorns (21,800) and Angel City FC (19,700).

Lightning-Fast Hat-Trick – Ludmila Makes History

Pure football magic! On August 22, 2025, in the match between Chicago Stars FC and North Carolina Courage, substitute Ludmila delivered the performance of a lifetime in just ten unforgettable minutes.

The Brazilian forward scored in the 76th, 81st, and 86th minutes, recording the fastest hat-trick in NWSL history, just 10 minutes and 9 seconds from her first to her third goal.

League stats are clear: from 75:18 to 85:27, the record now belongs to the Chicago forward. Her explosive entrance completely changed the course of the match, securing a thrilling 3–3 draw after a dramatic comeback.

Assist Queen – Sofia Huerta Hits No. 32

Another chapter written in golden letters. In the Seattle Reign vs. Houston Dash match, Sofia Huerta delivered her 32nd career assist. Her precise cross allowed Jordyn Huitema to score a header, salvaging a 1–1 draw for the Reign.

With this, Huerta solidified her status as the all-time NWSL assist leader (regular season), surpassing her own previous record of 31 assists, which she set by the end of the 2023/2024 season.

Playoff Race Heats Up

One matchweek, so many stories: record-breaking attendance, the fastest hat-trick, and a milestone assist record. The 2025 NWSL season is entering its decisive phase, and the race for playoff spots has never been this intense. One thing is certain, the coming weeks promise even more drama and unforgettable moments.
