WSL TITLE RACE ALL BUT DECIDED… OR IS IT?

Published 2 min read

With just three rounds left in the Women’s Super League season, everything points to Manchester City being on the verge of lifting the trophy. The Citizens hold a commanding 9-point lead over second-placed Chelsea and 11 points over third-placed Arsenal, putting them firmly in control at this decisive stage of the campaign.

Realistically, only a complete collapse could deny City the title. They have shown consistency and top-level performances throughout the season, and it’s hard to imagine them failing to collect at least 6 points from their final matches, which would effectively seal the championship.

There is, however, one small twist that keeps things interesting. Arsenal still have two games in hand. If the Gunners manage to win both, they could reduce the gap to just 5 points. On paper, that keeps the title race alive. In reality, though, it would require City to suddenly drop points while Arsenal win every remaining matc,  a scenario that seems unlikely.

Moreover, Arsenal are still competing in the UWCL semi-finals, which means a heavier schedule, potential squad rotation, and increased fatigue for key players. This could play a crucial role in the final stretch of the league season.

At the other end of the table, the relegation battle appears close to being settled. Leicester, despite being only 4 points behind West Ham, look like the weakest side in the league this season. A lack of consistency, quality, and finishing has left them in a very difficult position heading into the final weeks.

Three games to go.
One team in control.
But football always leaves room for surprises. ⚽🔥
