PSV’s first home league match arrives after a curious opening win. The champions controlled possession at PEC Zwolle but did not score until the 90th minute, when Inske Weiman found the breakthrough. Julia Hickelsberger then made it 2-0 in added time.
Utrecht lost 1-0 to Ajax and spent long periods without the ball, yet stayed within one goal despite facing 19 attempts. That resistance will be useful in Eindhoven. PSV will expect to dictate the game, but an early goal would make their afternoon far simpler than the one in Zwolle.
Ajax vs PEC Zwolle

Ajax return home after a controlled 1-0 victory in Utrecht. Their 69 per cent possession and 19 shots were the strongest territorial numbers of the opening round, even if only Elisa van Dijk’s 34th-minute finish separated the teams.
PEC Zwolle held PSV goalless for 89 minutes before conceding twice at the end. Repeating that compact performance at Ajax would give them another chance to make a favourite uncomfortable. Ajax, meanwhile, will want a second goal much earlier this time.
Feyenoord vs AZ

This is the weekend’s only meeting between opening-day winners. Feyenoord overturned a deficit at sc Heerenveen, with Kirsten van de Westeringh and Victoria Della Peruta scoring after the break. Sixteen corners underline how firmly Feyenoord pushed the hosts back.
AZ also won 2-1, responding to ADO Den Haag’s equaliser through Jet van Beijeren. Both teams recorded at least 16 attempts in round one. The side that manages transitions better at Varkenoord can establish an early place among the front-runners.
De Graafschap vs sc Heerenveen

De Graafschap’s first top-flight match ended in a 2-1 defeat at FC Twente, but the newcomers avoided being overwhelmed after conceding twice in the opening 14 minutes. Bente Jansen’s stoppage-time goal offered a tangible reward for their persistence.
Heerenveen also lost 2-1, despite taking the lead against Feyenoord through Elize van Vilsteren. This fixture is an early opportunity for both sides because the schedule quickly becomes less forgiving once the European contenders arrive.
ADO Den Haag vs FC Twente

FC Twente needed only 14 minutes to build a two-goal lead against De Graafschap. Jill Roord scored first and Imre van der Vegt followed, but the match tightened and finished 2-1. A more complete performance will be the target in The Hague.
ADO were competitive in a 2-1 loss at AZ. Floortje Bol’s equaliser brought them level in the second half before AZ struck again. Twente carry the greater title expectation, but ADO showed enough to make this more than a routine assignment.
What to watch
Feyenoord against AZ is the clearest early measuring stick, but the broader theme is how the favourites deal with resistance. PSV and Ajax both required patience in round one, and FC Twente did not turn a fast start into a large win. Matchday 2 will show whether those were normal opening-weekend complications or signs that the new ten-team league will remain tight.
