Matchday 2 – Liga MX Femenil (Clausura 2026)

Published 3 min read

The second round of the Liga MX Femenil Clausura 2026, played between January 9–12, delivered clear signals about which teams may set the tone in this phase of the season. Fans witnessed emphatic victories by favorites, several hard-fought scoreless draws, and the first visible gaps forming in the league table.

Leaders keep up the pace

The most convincing victory was recorded by Rayadas de Monterrey, who thrashed Necaxa 5–0. The dominant win lifted the Monterrey side to the top of the table with a perfect points record and the best goal difference.

Equally impressive were Pachuca, who defeated Querétaro 4–0. The team from Hidalgo confirmed that they will once again be contenders for the highest honors.

A strong start to the season has also been made by Toluca, who beat Atlas 2–0, and Mazatlán FC, who claimed a 2–1 victory over Santos Laguna. Both sides, alongside Rayadas and Pachuca, have collected six points from two matches.

Scoreless blockbusters and dramatic endings

Two of the most high-profile matches of the round ended in scoreless draws. Cruz Azul shared the points with Guadalajara Chivas, while Club Tijuana drew 0–0 with Club América. Such results are a rarity in a league known for its attacking football.

There was no shortage of drama in the match between Atlético San Luis and Pumas UNAM, which ended 1–1 after a stoppage-time equalizer. Meanwhile, FC Juárez secured a valuable three points with a narrow 1–0 win over Club León.

The match between Puebla and Tigres UANL was postponed and will be played at a later date.

Numbers and notes after Jornada 2

  • A total of 21 goals were scored across the round (an average of over 2.6 per match), with the most coming in Monterrey’s 5–0 victory.
  • Diana Ordóñez of Tigres leads the scoring charts with four goals, despite her team having played one match fewer.

Table situation

At the top of the standings with six points are Rayadas, Pachuca, Toluca and Mazatlán. Tigres UANL (3 points) and Puebla (0 points) both have a game in hand, which could still alter the current order. The fight for playoff spots (TOP 8) is only just getting underway, and the Clausura 2026 is already shaping up to be highly exciting from the very first weeks.
